Some Basic Info About Violin

The Violin family has mainly four members. They are Violin, Viola, Cello and Double Bass or Contrabass. In all the members of this family, violin is the smallest and highest pitched member. The name Violin has been derived from a middle latin word “vitula” which means stringed instrument.
So, the violin is a stringed instrument, mainly with four strings and a bow.. All the four strings are usually tuned in perfect fifths, but some musicians change it sometime according to their preferences. By default, the strings are tuned on the notes G, D, A and E. In Hindustani classical music, they are tuned in Pa, Sa, Pa and Sa respectively.(Pa, Sa are Hindustani notations) Imagine these four strings tuned in four notes producing unlimited notes and their combinations, therefore creating magic.
